Overview

Pokemon Melanite Version is a fan made Pokemon Game being made in RPG Maker XP. It uses Pokemon Essentials Starter Kit by Poccil, Flameguru, and Maruno. In entirety, the game has been in development for about a year.

The project began somewhere around Novmember 2011. It has always been my dream to make my own Pokemon Game, and when I discovered Pokemon Essentials, I immediatley set to work. The game was to be called Pokemon Darkest Shadows/Brightest Lights. It would feature a new region, a new story, and a return of Shadow Pokemon. I was inexperienced though, and the project fell apart. This was around January of 2012. I gave up on the thought of making a game.

A month of so later, my young brother saw me looking at pictures of other Pokemon fan games. He instantly fell in love with the idea, and wanted nothing more than for me to make him a game. I had motivation again, and started from scratch. This time, I was more prepared, I planned, sketched out a region, made an extensive story board, came up with concepts, and planned ahead. I knew I wanted a darker theme. The only Pokemon I could think of to fit what I wanted was Darkrai. I researched a name, and finally decided on Pokemon Melanite. Melanite is a black crystal, and was perfect for what I needed.

I had an idea, and the motivation to drive me. It was the summer of 2012 and everything was going great. Towns were designed, Pokemon were chosen, and the story was finalized. However, sometime around September, my computer crashed. The only backup I had was extrmeley outdated. Everything was lost, and I gave up once again.

It wasn't until November of 2012 that I decided to try one more time. With the support of a growing subreddit community, I redesigned maps, made better graphics, found talented spriters, composers, and thinkers, and had a custom menu done. Everything was in full swing again, and is to this day. At one point I hoped to have a demo by New Years. That didn't happen, and I am not promising any dates for the future. I will take the time to do everything right, and when the time comes, a demo will be released, followed hopefully by many more releases.

For now, check around the site for info on the game, maps, screenshots, and who helped make this a reality. Sign up for email updates on big occasions, and feel free to contact me with any questions you have about the game.
